Understanding our students

Following on from an #AsiaELT chat yesterday, I have been doing some research into assessment methods, and I have discovered this, the KWL chart.

Put simply it is a chart for the students to fill out about their English learning. They fill out what they know, what they want to know, and and finally, what they have learnt.

So at the beginning of a unit of study ask your students what they already know and what they want to know about the upcoming subjects, and put it on a wall or pinboard. At the end of the unit, ask your students what they have learnt.
