If you are a fan of Twitter there are some fantastic organised chats available for discussing ELT. They usually have a predetermined topic to discuss and using a particular hashtag allows people to follow the discussion.
These chats are a fantastic way of keeping up to date with contemporary English language teaching practices.
#eltchat is held for an hour every Wednesday at 12pm and 21.00pm and further details of topics and moderators can be found at www.eltchat.org
#AusELT is for teachers in Australia, although anybody can join in, sessions are on Thursday at 8.30pm DST. More information can be found at www.auselt.com
#asiaelt is specific to Asia, but is open to all who is interested. Its run fortnightly on Tuesdays @ 11am & 4pm Thai time.
#keltchat is focused for ELT practitioners in South Korea and meets every second Sunday of the month from 8pm to 9pm. ore information can be found at keltchat.wordpress.com
#eapchat focusses on the teaching of English for academic purposes. Its run on the 1st and 3rd Monday of each month. Check eapchat.wordpress.com for start times in your location.
